BRIEF

Triconi Adda  is a comprehensive refurbishment project designed to provide a rejuvenating and immersive space for teenagers  to unwind, learn, indulge in creative pursuits and engage in any form of art.

This unique environment fosters connections and this initiative is a keen focus on empowering children and teenagers to explore their ideas and establish clubs that facilitate connections with others who share similar interests!

The main objective of creating ‘Triconi Adda’ is to design a social and leisure space for everyone to bring out and explore their wildest sides to build more curiosity to learn, experiment and explore a   leisure space  and also a social space  to connect, collaborate, create, present and experience the art!

Rest assured, Triconi Adda  provides a transformative experience for all, a space where creativity and connections intertwine to create an environment that celebrate both individual and collaborative artistic expression.

Architectural Approach

Our renovation plan is to minimize the environmental impact, prioritizing two key objectives. Firstly, we aim to lower the impact by reusing, upcycling, recycling, environmentally friendly construction materials and ensuring zero waste management throughout the project until completion. And  to practice conscious resource utilization.

Secondly, in the pursuit of enhanced sustainability, we are implementing new structural materials with remarkably low embodied carbon. Furthermore, we are diligently working to improve the building’s overall performance, seeking energy-efficient solutions that contribute to a reduced carbon footprint while ensuring optimal thermal comfort.

Looking ahead to the future, our vision extends to making the space self-sufficient through the integration of renewable solar energy.

Community project experience

The space is for teenagers  to be involved in the activity that they like and to get in touch with themselves. As architectural designers how could we design according to the needs of the users and consciously plan to minimize the environmental impact?

Hence we are here to bring a platform where the teenagers  give their brief to design their own adda and the designers stand along and understand the user perspective and articulate ideas into reality. The main learning would revolve around ditching the conventional auto-pilot construction, being more aware of material usage and learning to design to reduce the environmental impact of architecture.

So here’s the plan to bring the idea into action:

We are inviting the interested  architecture students/recent graduates to be involved in designing the space environment-friendly and pairing each of them with the ultra-curious teenager.

Our curation team has identified 7 zones in the existing building. These 7 zones will be allotted to the 7 teams of 1 designer + 1 user.

Each team focuses and works on  designing and renovating their zone of the building. The project is scheduled to happen on the first 4 weekends of December 2023, which includes site visits, discussions, case studies and brainstorming sessions around creating the Triconi Adda. The detailed schedule will be discussed with the selected applicants.

From each team a minimum of 1 design idea (and the maximum of whole design of the zone) will be approved by the curation team by the end of this project.
